CSG donates Tatra vehicles worth over €4 million to firefighters for flood relief.

The Czechoslovak Group (CSG), owned by Czech entrepreneur Michal Strnad, is donating 12 Tatra vehicles worth over 102 million CZK to the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic (HZS). The donation is intended to support the efforts to mitigate the aftermath of the floods. The vehicles will remain in the permanent ownership of HZS, enhancing their capabilities not only in managing natural disasters but also in fulfilling other operational tasks.

The automotive company Tatra Trucks a.s., a member of the CSG group, has a fleet of newly manufactured vehicles that were initially prepared for distribution to its dealer network. Due to the tragic floods that particularly affected the Moravian-Silesian region, where Tatra is headquartered, CSG has decided to donate 12 vehicles worth 102.8 million CZK to the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic (HZS).

The donation includes 9 tipper trucks on the Tatra Phoenix chassis (3 in the 8×8 configuration and 6 in the 6×6 configuration) and 3 cranes on the Tatra Force chassis. Some of these tipper trucks have already been handed over to HZS based on the crisis team’s request and are currently being used in flood-affected areas. These Tatra vehicles will remain in the permanent ownership of HZS to ensure they are always available to the Integrated Rescue System for fulfilling its missions. The primary user will be the Fire Rescue Unit of HZS ČR.

Radim Studený, Head of Sales for Fire and Special Equipment at Tatra Trucks, stated: “As a company based in the Moravian-Silesian region, we and some of our suppliers and employees have been directly affected by the tragic floods. Despite the difficult conditions, we continue production and fulfill our commitments to our customers and partners, including HZS ČR, which has long used a fleet of Tatra vehicles capable of operating even in the epicenter of natural disasters due to their unique chassis properties.

Given the extraordinary situation caused by the floods in the Czech Republic, the owner of CSG decided to donate 12 newly manufactured Tatra vehicles to the permanent ownership and use of HZS. Some of these vehicles are already being used by Czech firefighters, and others can be dispatched in the coming days.”

Lieutenant General Vladimír Vlček, Director General of HZS, said: “The Czech automobile manufacturer Tatra has been a long-term partner of HZS. Hundreds of Tatras serve in both professional and volunteer fire brigades. The true strength of a partnership is revealed in difficult situations, such as this year’s floods. We highly appreciate the extraordinary donation provided by the CSG group, which is being immediately utilized for IZS tasks.”

As usual, Tatra Trucks is prepared to provide immediate support to the users of its vehicles within HZS anywhere in the Czech Republic through its mobile service team.
